Simulated Cyber Physical System

To help out the future cyber security, me and my team will design a simulated cyber physical system for use in Cyber Defense Competitions. (CDCs) To accomplish this, we have turned to the use of OpenPLC and Factory I/O. We will use OpenPLC to simulate a cyber physical system while using Factory I/O as a visual representation of the simulated scenario. We will implement some vulnerabilities in our design to give cyber defense competition students an opportunity to learn how to secure a cyber physical system. Since we are early in the design phase, our project isn't fully designed yet.

I am in charge of interfacing our project with Factory I/O through the use of OpenPLC, and to make a suitable factory environment for a Cyber Defense Competition.

My Contribution:

I have created a basic environment that stops the conveyor to prevent a container from of falling off the conveyor. This is shown in the pictures above.

Knowledge Gained:

I have learn what a PLC is, and how it is programmed. Also, I have some basic skills with Factory I/O.
